When I lodged my 89 pages crime report on New Zealand (NZ) Police’s online portal in January 2021, I reasonably expected its very simple Euro/Interpol (who do not normally deal directly with the Public – only Countries’ Police) referral would be properly completed by Police within 3 months. I had no inkling 5 years later would be no closer to such a referral; while a ‘swamp’ of Police National Headquarters (PNHQ) personnel’s corruption and serious misconduct & neglect of duty has been exposed:
– acted with personal vindictiveness, just because I expected them to be competent
– blocked my access to internal accountability processes
– communication & senior personnel showed zero interest in protecting Police’s public image i.e. even though I showed them proof of initial media interest in my name & shame experience story, still no action
– conducted themselves without empathy, integrity, professionalism & respect (Police’s so-called values)
– covered up their misbehaviour
– deliberately hid evidence probably exposing further corruption and serious misconduct & neglect of duty
– despite being informed Police have a “robust” process, all my escalation attempts right up to the Commissioner were ignored
– despite me giving them a weekly opportunity to correct the record, cruelly let me falsely believe for 6 months Europol were investigating my crime report
– did not provide the simplest of evidence preservation assistance i.e. ignored answering 70 times “Do you have human contacts in YouTube?”
– have a very dysfunctional PNHQ culture
– have terrible conduct, culture & service research seemingly ‘swept under the carpet’
– “I want police to be known as a service, not a force” Commissioner & his 8 direct reports totally ignored my 173 pleas for service
– ignored 3 direct investigation opportunities I orchestrated
– lied (& did not apologize when presented evidence of such), misrepresented Parliamentary Acts, pretended significant events never occurred – like the probable escalation of the crime from $US15M to $1B, tried to rewrite history etc
– refused, by ignoring my numerous requests, to correct their wrongs i.e. referring my report to Interpol Wellington, to correct the illogical previous submission of a few disjointed emails which made no end-to-end crime understanding sense to them
– ultimately, did not achieve in 5 years what I alone did in just 6 business days – a proper Europol referral
– wasted hours trying to defend not doing just a 15 minutes totally justified task which would have resolved this since-October 2021 issue
– were totally devoid of proactive solution-orientated behaviour
– would not bring the above misbehaviour to the Commissioner’s attention i.e. a mere 1 minute task

To ‘rub salt into a gaping wound’ – since 11 October 2023(!) – despite my extensive efforts, not a single PNHQ personnel has provided the slightest assistance to me with regards to Police investigating this performance complaint! As this complaint will name, many people I have repeatedly contacted are senior personnel – all to no avail – zero response from all of them!
Police’s values of empathy, integrity, professionalism & respect are a myth within PNHQ!
The Government side of this experience is shameful too:
– On 5 October 2023, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s office bought the issue to Police Minister Mark Mitchell’s attention. Zero action/response from Mitchell.
– On 17 January 2024 & 23 April 2025, I requested Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) open an Investigation into PNHQ’s woeful mishandling of my case. Zero response. Plus, IPCA lied to try to protect Police & to the Chief Ombudsman as to my complaint contents – no IPCA apology either time when presented evidence of such! It is really wrong a supposed independent conduct body twice ‘buries’ my complaint as if it was never submitted!
– On 26 February 2024, I received “Your comments have been forwarded onto Prime Minister for his consideration” email from his Office. To date, no evidence Luxon/Office even brought my complaint to the Police Commissioner’s attention! The so-called “incredibly serious about law & order” party have ZERO interest in addressing totally unacceptable PNHQ performance!
